Satellite car radio is a growing industry in today's market place. Most common car audio manufacturers have adapted their products to include satellite car radio services. This allows drivers a wider range of music for their listening pleasure making the travel place a much more entertaining place to be.

When it comes to the dreariness and monotony of the daily commute for those employed individuals, satellite car radio can offer a fresh breath of air with their wide variety of entertainment with the convenience of being mobile. Many morning show personalities have opted to take the satellite radio route as opposed to limiting themselves to syndication by normal radio station broadcasters. Satellite car radio has given the on-air personalities a wider range of listeners during the daily commute.

Because of the nature of today's workplace and the face-paced world around us, the need to be able to have variety while on the go has caused a boom in the satellite Car Radio car radio industry spawning service providers such as Sirius and XM radio along with many not so well known providers of satellite radio service. This has put a drive (no pun intended) into car audio manufacturers to make their products more of satellite car radio instead of the normal car audio systems that limit buyers to local analog radio transmissions, compact disc, and cassette capabilities.

With technologies today growing and expanding at the rate they are, the industry has grown leaps and bounds not only in the forms of media car audio equipment will accept but integrating things from our every day lives such as Mp3 capabilities, and Satellite capabilities. There are very few manufactures now that do not offer some form of satellite car radio. Your typical car stereos and the radio capabilities have been far exceeded and become a profitable market for satellite providers.

These days when you are shopping for car audio systems, you can find satellite car radio units for near as close of cost as you can your typical car audio systems with standard analog capabilities. Why wouldn't you go for a satellite car radio instead of your plain run of the mill car stereo? When for only a few pennies on the dollar more you can in with the times and become a listener of a satellite car radio, giving you more choice when you want it, with the technologies of today's leading industry of satellite technologies.

With all of the options you have in today's car audio industry I see no reason to go with your standard car radio options and not give in to the growing demand of satellite car radio. Not only is it and advantage cost-wise but it also targets every genre of music, news, and talk radio you could think of. If you are looking to get out of the boredom of your daily commute, or just looking to appease the family when going on vacation I would strongly recommend that you look into satellite car radio as a great alternative for your listening needs.

Loco-Motion Cruise-In, Chatham, Illinois, August 21, 2010.

You are invited to stay and browse through my photostream. Here's a quick index to my Flickr site:

Automobile Photographs
: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (except Springfield)
: Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I've photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "counrtyside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois
: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds (and past State Fairs), and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair
: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!

Beyond Central Illinois
: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I've put together:

Barbers & Barber Shops
: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!
: Included topics range from man's first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.

Thank you for visiting my photostream - myoldpostcards (Randy von Liski)

My breakdown of things:

Audio quality: As others have noted here, the sound quality on this is better than what you’d expect for a unit this low-priced. I found the high-end to be slightly soft, but nothing too bad. The bass response is pretty good. The audio-in jack on the front of the unit is the main reason I bought this, as I don’t bother with CD’s anymore, and just wanted something simple & cheap that I could plug my smartphone/mp3 player into…thankfully this is where the best fidelity of the unit lies. The FM radio frequency response is weaker in the treble department than the input, but it doesn’t bother me much….radio isn’t really worth bothering with where I live anyway, other than public radio/college stations.

Power output: Not bad for the price. Don’t expect it to compete with power amplifiers, but to put it simply, I’ve still never needed to turn the thing all the way up, even for freeway driving.

Tuner: A bit weak here, though it hasn’t bothered me enough to care. I haven’t listened to the radio enough enough to say if it has lost stations around town or not, but I can say that the visual mechanical tuner display is rather small, and with a lot of tuner travel per turn.

Ease of use, features, and connectors: This thing is stupid-simple to use. When adjusting things while driving, you don’t even need to look at it. 2 potentiometers – One for volume, the other a split-shaft for tuning/balance control w/center detent. An AM/FM button. A 3.5mm audio-in jack for mp3 players and the like. A bass boost button (which I actually like, because it is subtle and DOESN’T overdo the boost). Cassette player with an eject/FF button.
This thing couldn’t be simpler to hook up; a wire each for: power, ground, remote turn-on. A female antenna connector. Wires for 2 speakers. RCA jack connectors should you wish to use to a power amp.

Wishes: simply that this unit had a 12.5khz treble control/boost button.

Overall, this is a great deal for the money. I can’t say anything about long-term quality, as I only bought it a few weeks ago, but so far I’ve been quite happy with it, and would recommend it to anyone else looking for a decent low-priced car stereo. As others have mentioned, it’s an added bonus knowing that nobody other than a complete moron would attempt to smash & grab a $29 cassette car stereo.
